WHO AM I?
My name is Rebecca Åkers, I am 30 years old and I work as a communicator. I have previously worked as a welfare expert within the municipality. I live with my partner in Killingholmen/Kilisaari, and in my free time, I sing in a choir, fish, watch movies, and spend time with family and friends.

As a politician, I am NOT the kind of person who sits quietly and collects allowances. I always try to understand the issues at hand, and I contribute with ideas, statements, and criticism when needed.
In my previous positions of trust in the municipality of Korsholm, I put forward many motions, such as anonymous recruitment, more social workers for child protection, increasing participation for children and people with immigrant backgrounds, and much more. As the first deputy in the welfare council, I have submitted motions on reading prescriptions and the inclusion of transgender people, and I have always supported amendments that aim for a more humane pace of savings.

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2025
I am running in the municipal elections in Jakobstad! As someone who recently moved here, I believe I can bring new and fresh perspectives, which I combine with solid political experience and a strong ability to find compromises.
I especially want to work on the following issues:
COUNTY ELECTIONS 2025
I am running in the wellbeing services county election in Ostrobothnia! During this term, I have served as the first deputy in the wellbeing services county council, which has given me valuable insight into the operations. I have also worked as a wellbeing specialist in the City of Vaasa, which has given me expert knowledge about cooperation between municipalities and the third sector. I also have extensive knowledge of health and wellbeing promotion and how to create inclusive services.

QUICK ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
PREVENTIVE CARE
I want to restore trust in the healthcare system. This
means that you should get help quickly when you need
it. If there is a long queue for more intensive care, you must
receive interim support measures and answers right away.
The regions must have sufficiently comprehensive care to
make traveling to another town the exception, not the rule.
The wellbeing services county must invest more in preventive services. It is more cost-effective to address problems early. For this to work, cooperation with the municipalities and the third sector must be effective.

CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
Our young people are still struggling a lot, and mental health issues are a problem that we must take seriously. Help must be available close to the youth, and it should be easy to reach someone who can assist. Families must receive enough support to cope with everyday life.
